Ascension Allegan Hospital seeks an Assistant Cook to work in our Food & Nutrition Dept.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, but are not limited to:
-Maintains quality food production, portion control standards and recipe standards.
-Prepares food items for the Riverfront Caf?, Fresh Start Cafe, patient meals and catering functions.
-Reviews menus, production sheets and catering sheets and produces food items to meet the needs of the patient/customer within the time restraints
-Procures food items from refrigerators, freezers or other storage areas to allow for adequate time for thawing and preparation
-Uses the correct preparation method and portioning to insure that quality, temperature and therapeutic diet needs are met
-Upholds the same standard for the cafes and catering food items
-Maintains and practices proper sanitation of kitchen and cafes
-Assists in the development of menus and recipes for patients and cafes
-Takes a lead role in the day to day task of the department
-Develops a task list to meet daily needs of department and assist in the completion of the list
-Completes catering request and set-up
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE, but may not be limited to:
-High School Diploma or GED
-2 years healthcare food service cooking experience or related experience
-Ability to work as a cashier
-Ability to read a recipe and produce it
-Ability to mathematically alter a recipe
-Knowledge of Culinary terminology
-Knowledge of therapeutic diets used for patients
-Ability to perform all cooking methods correctly
