Purpose: We are seeking a PLC Technician to troubleshoot, repair and maintain our production line machinery. The ideal candidate will have experience with PLCs, HMIs, and electrical control systems. He or she will be able to read and interpret electrical schematics and have a strong understanding of mechanical systems. The PLC Technician will be responsible for ensuring that our production line machinery is running smoothly and efficiently.
Vocational degree in automated machinery systems or equivalent from a two-year college or 0 years' work experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment; OR high school diploma (or equivalent) and 2 years' minimum work experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotech, food manufacturing, cosmetics, or electronics preferred.
Basic understanding of electronics, PLC programming, electrical controls, pneumatics, stepper motors, servo drives, VFD's, control loops, thermocouples, and safety systems.
Experience working in a GMP environment, preferred.
Essential Job Duties:
Install, program maintain and troubleshoot PLCs and associated equipment.
Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
Perform all work in accordance with safety regulations and standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
Respond to service calls in a timely and efficient manner.
Investigate and diagnose problems with PLC systems.
Develop and implement solutions to improve PLC system performance.
Prepare cost estimates for PLC system upgrades and repairs.
Coordinate with other departments and personnel as needed to resolve PLC issues.
Stay up to date on advances in PLC technology.
Any other duties assigned by management.
Required skills & Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited PLC Technician program
2+ years' experience as a PLC Technician, with solid understanding of PLCs and Ladder Logic
A ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
Working knowledge of hand tools, multimeters, and other test equipment.
Excellent mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Strong commitment to safety in the workplace.
Preferred Skills and qualifications.
Does not own or maintain routine contact with swine or birds.
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Capable of working weekends and maintaining a flexible schedule. This includes regularly scheduled shifts. Saturday and Sunday as well as holidays when needed. (Being on Call)
Ability to remain standing and/or walking for extended periods of time on concrete floors.
Ability to stoop, bend, climb, and lift at least 25 lbs. continuously throughout the day.
