GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
This position is in a manufacturing environment. The HVAC Assembly Technician is responsible for ensuring that the systems are built per engineering drawings, workmanship documentation, quality procedures, customer specifications and engineering direction. The HVAC Assembly Technician is responsible for on-site customer service work as request and will require occasional travel (national.) Service work involves trouble shooting and repairs of company product and other.
PRIMARY FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The HVAC Assembly Technician will work closely with other assemblers, lead mechanical tech, engineers and designers in manufacturing Horstman products.
This person will braze and assemble products, read mechanical & electrical schematics and fabricate systems according to requirements specified by engineering (see skills, education, experience below)
Follow established quality procedures regarding workmanship, process certification and safety regulations.
Observe and maintain sequence of assembly within or below the established budgeted labor hours for each task assigned.
Insure required work order documentation is complete and correct.
Testing of completed units according to customer specifications to company procedures.
Other duties as assigned by management
The HVAC Assembly Technician reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
THIS POSITION REQUIRES: Experience in HVAC systems (troubleshooting and installation) wiring and harnesses assembly and a EPA 608 certification. Applicants must be proficient in brazing, reading prints (electrical and electrical) and following work instructions. Interested individuals should be familiar with basic hand and power tools, torque wrenches. Extra consideration will be given to those with the following skills: soldering, building mechanical and fabricated assemblies and machine operation. Must be able to read drawings and follow work instructions.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Capability to properly assemble plastic, fiberglass, steel screwed, bonded, and welded pipe assemblies.
Exhibit the ability to perform quality brazing in accordance with ASME C3.4 Process Piping. Specifically be able to qualify to the copper to copper, copper to brass, copper to steel
Possess adequate mechanical ability to disassemble, repair or rebuild and reassemble refrigeration piping systems valve assemblies
Exhibit knowledge to read and interpret piping schematics, manufacturing drawings and specifications, and have skill at using necessary and proper manual and power tools and measuring apparatus to efficiently fit and fabricate piping sub-assemblies
