BHI Energy | Staffing Solutions has an immediate need for a local Control Panel Technician located in Lake Orion, MI, in northern Oakland County. Great contract to direct full-time opportunity for our client. In support of our ongoing growth, we are looking for a Panel Builder / Machine Tool Electrician to join our team.
Job Requirements:
Layout and wire panels from electrical schematics and layouts.
Conducts, maintains, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical / electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components.
Applies knowledge of electrical / electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation (on-site and off-site).
Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of Manufacturing.
Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gauges and test equipment.
Print wire tags, terminal board tags, and panel tags, as required.
Building electrical control panels consisting of switches, relays, motors, transformers, etc.
Experience with Servo & VFD drives and PLC controls a plus.
Able to measure accurately and layout controls from blueprints.
Performs in production inspection, conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using an ohmmeter, test lights, and other electrical testing instruments to ensure panels and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
Familiarity with UL508a preferred.
Field installation, panel modifications/repairs.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year experience building industrial control panels
Must be able to read electrical schematics and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Experience with machine tool wiring, conduit installations, panel layouts and electrical components
Familiar with the NEC
Knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens
Must be committed to SAFETY and QUALITY at all times.
Some travel may be required
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
This job involves lots of bending and stooping, and constantly working while on your feet
Good with hand tools, torque wrench, soldering, jigsaw, hand drill, drill press, band saw and test equipment
Ability to communicate effectively, listen well, work collaboratively, and be adaptable to changing work needs
Discuss errors in wiring schematics or panel with supervisor/engineer to clarify assembly issues
Keeps equipment and working area clean, orderly and safe
Ability to work carefully and accurately, and work independently
Self-motivated and detail oriented
