The City of Kentwood Engineering Department is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time City Engineer position. The City Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the City's Engineering functions and staff.
Essential Job Functions:
Directs the development and implementation of strategies, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and programs; Plans, coordinates, oversees, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned staff; Contributes to the overall quality of the City's service provision by fostering and facilitating the development and coordination of work teams; Prepares and administers the annual budget and strategic needs for the department; Represents the Engineering Department at City Commission, advisory board meetings, departmental meetings, and community events as required; Oversees the conduct of feasibility and cost studies; Directs the development of engineering solutions to problems related to City infrastructure; Administers professional service contracts related to department projects and activities; and Maintains cooperative relationships with other City departments, other municipalities and government agencies.
Qualified applicants will possess all of the following:
Michigan Driver's License.
State of Michigan Professional Engineer (PE) License.
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, or a field related to the work; AND
Five (5) years of managerial experience in civil engineering services; OR
an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
This is a full-time exempt position with excellent benefits. The hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The salary range for this position is $70,931 to $99,304. Please see the Job Description for more details about this position.
