Great Lakes Bay Health Centers (GLBHC) is a community health center umbrella made up of 32 locations throughout the Great Lakes Bay region and beyond. Most locations are set up to serve medically underserved populations, but our doors are open to anyone regardless of insurance or lack of insurance. The services provided are sensitive to the community's needs, are not based on ability to pay, and are offered without regard to criteria such as race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Job Descriptions
The Referral Assistant provides general clerical support to the department as directed by the Referral Manager and/ or Referral Specialists.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
1. Answers incoming departmental calls, ensuring that all calls are handled or routed as appropriate.
2. Assists Referral Specialists in communicating with patients regarding scheduled appointments and/ or tests. Uses appropriate method of communication based upon timing of appointments, as established in departmental protocol.
3. Assists in the established tracking process as directed by the Referral Manager and/ or Referral Specialists.
4. Documents activity in the EHR as directed by the Referral Manager and/ or Referral Specialists.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
1. Education: High School diploma required.
2. Licensure: None
3. Experience: Medical office experience preferred. Experience in medical record documentation preferred.
4. Skills: Excellent telephone etiquette. Clerical skills such as filing and completion of forms. Legible handwriting. Ability to operate office equipment. Able to follow through on assignment in a timely manner. Ensures that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
5. Interpersonal Skills: Able to communicate effectively with, and relate to, a diverse population. Able to follow oral and/ or written instructions. Able to work independently and as a team member. Must exhibit excellent customer service skills.

7. Hours of work: Up to 600 hour assignment. Part-time.
