PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Supports manufacturing by improving department efficiency in a safe, high quality and productive manner. Accountable for quality and housekeeping goals by following through on open issues and ensuring that corrective action plans are in place. Responsible for a variety of tasks which ensure the efficiency and reliability of all company tooling, production equipment and processes.
RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:
- Services, maintains, repairs, installs and tests new or existing equipment and verifies conformance to specifications. (Robot/Welding/Fixtures)
- Completes repairs, modifications and installations as required.
- Provides plant support in troubleshooting of process problems including root cause analysis. Completes quality improvements as required to maintain high part quality. Participates in cross functional teams to address reliability issues.
- Works with production team members and other support groups, including vendors (both parts and equipment suppliers).
- Department support for testing, repairing and calibrating electric or electronic components. Validates reliability issues with components and investigate repeat component failures.
- Enters all breakdown details (including pictures) into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) in a timely manner.
- Performs preventative maintenance tasks as laid out by division and the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Contributes to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities, especially regarding systems improvements and optimization. Documents improvements and analyzes data to ensure effective implementation.
- Analyzes, records and charts data required for maintenance records and projects. Helps to establish benchmarks and shares improvement opportunities with department Maintenance Shift Leader.
- Helps to prepare drawings and create material specifications for requisitions to vendors as required.
- Assists in developing and maintaining preventative & predictive maintenance procedures.
- Supports the implementation cross-functional training of repairs procedures. The training would be for equipment including electrical, mechanical, tooling etc..
- Attends departmental and plant-wide communication meetings as scheduled.
- Attends training as scheduled.
- Complies with, and supports Magna’s operational procedures, policies, Employee Handbook, Magna’s Employee’s Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Operational Principles.
- Complies with relevant Quality and Environmental programs (e.g. TS16949, ISO14001).
- Complies with all Health and Safety programs in accordance with OSHA. Follows and ensures company procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed.
- Conducts themselves in a professional manner.
- Keeps work area clean and organized.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to demonstrate understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction
Experience on the cut & etch processes an asset
- Understanding of the 5S practices and methodology
- Proven ability to interact well with co-workers and promote the “Team” attitude.
- Able to understand, anticipate and follow direction while exercising maturity of judgement.
- Works well in a fast paced environment and with a variable workload
- Available to work flexible hours and overtime in a fast-paced environment in order to meet customer requirements
- Effectively presents information and respond to questions from all interested parties
- Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines
- Comfortable working with power cutting tools, torches, air chisels and ultra-sonic weld inspection equipment
- Able to calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages and proportions
- Maintains confidentiality and use discretion and tact
- Has great time management skills; include prioritizing and meeting deadlines with limited direct supervision
- Capable in necessary computer use and computer software to perform job
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Some of the physical demands of this position include sitting for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down staircases, occasional lifting, and occasional stooping and bending.
- Travel, on rare occasions, may be required with occasional overnight accommodation at various locations.
- Overtime and shift rotation may be required to meet production expectations.
- May be exposed to elements such as hot & cold temperature and noise during time spent in the plant.
- Must be able to safely operates forklifts, aerial lifts, floor scrubbers.
- Able to work off a ladder, aerial lift or plant roof at heights up to 40 feet off ground level.
- Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 40 lbs multiple times and unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, walking or sweeping for extended periods of time.
- Able to obtain and retain a valid passport is required
EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED:
Some of the equipment and tools used are computer, telephone, FANUC robot,
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 1 year of Fanuc or two years of other robot experience required
- Minimum of 1 year of spot and MIG welding whether manual or automated assembly

- Bosch Training
