Overview
Daifuku America Corporation is a leader in Design, Manufacturing, Installation and Support of automotive automation/material handling systems in North America. The company is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer.
Responsibilities
The qualified candidate will participate in creating and maintaining the systems that support engineering and enforce engineering standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; Designing, developing, and testing all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Applying knowledge of engineering principles to design products including involvement in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products. Manage small team of engineers.
Other Responsibilities
Performs engineering assignments related to designing and detailing using a CAD system
Interface with customer engineers when gathering system requirements, then translating the requirements to functional technical specifications
Communicate with customers, vendors and departments as needed
Order, track and coordinate onsite materials
Support field modifications and commissioning
Mechanical design mechanical conveyor components by using AutoCAD or Inventor
Designing of structural steel support system of Material Handling System by using AutoCAD
Detailing of mechanical components and structural items. This will include dimensioning, Bill of material updates, and modification to existing/standard drawings
Plant/Construction site field inspections
Interface with fabrication/manufacturing team
Perform other tasks as assigned
Check/ approve concept and detail drawings
Assign work to maintain a project schedule
Qualifications
Above average of AutoCAD skills /3-D CAD software skills a plus. Inventor software a plus
Knowledge of mechanical systems (motors/chains), structural materials (steel beams/channels/angles), Steel machining/welding practices desired
Demonstrated PC skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) Inventor a plus
Works precisely and pays close attention to details
Advanced organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in material handling and steel is required.
Knowledge of Automotive Manufacturing required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge
Ability to travel as required
Work in an open office environment
Must be self-managed and committed to working in a fast-paced environment
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Must be available to work weekends, nights, overtime, and holidays, as needed
Able to self-manage time and time of others
Must have ability to trouble shoot mechanical trade problems
Education
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred
Minimum of 5-10 years experience in mechanical engineering & designing
2-5 years automotive material handling experience
