Reports To: Associate Dean of Campus and Residence Life
Starting Salary: $34,789.00 (Level 1, Grade 9 on the Staff Salary Schedule) plus room, utility (including internet and cable), board while school is in session will be paid by NMC for this position.

Job Summary:
This position provides academic support to housing students, helping them achieve success in their academic goals by providing lifelong learning opportunities outside of the classroom, and supporting the department through idea generation and implementation of a “Living/Learning Community.” This position also has management responsibilities over campus life activities.
This position is required to live and work in the NMC on-campus housing with a semi-furnished apartment with room and utilities included covered year-round with meal plan provided during fall and spring semesters. This position requires being on-call, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES and LICENSES
Required:
• Bachelor's degree
• Two or more years of residence life leadership or related experience
• 2 years required experience with Google docs, Microsoft Office with strong written and oral communication skills
• Valid, unrestricted Michigan Drivers license or ability to obtain by start date
Preferred:
• Demonstrated ability to respond in crisis, emergencies, and issues in a college residence hall or apartment setting
• Successful record of recruiting, training, and supervising an inclusive diverse staff
• Experience in higher education
• Experience with or knowledge of student governance/councils
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
(Critical) Creates and implements academic programming for Residence Life student activities.
(Critical) Assists in the management and overseeing of residence halls as directed by the Associate Dean of Campus and Residence Life.
(Critical) Interviews, hires, and manages the summer crew and front desk staff and provides training for summer crew, and meets summer client needs as required.
(Critical) Rotates evening duties with Associate Dean of Campus and Residence Life and responds to emergencies and crises as needed.
(Critical) Supervises others in accordance with NMC's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, recognizing employees; addressing performance problems or gaps.
(Critical) Advise Residence Life Council for the respective facility. Residence Hall Manager and guests/visitors must adhere to the policies of Northwestern Michigan College and Residence Life Hall policies pertinent to the facility.
(Critical) Conducts in-service trainings with Resident Assistants and student employees every semester or as needed throughout the academic year.
(Critical) Serves as academic support for East Hall students with coordination with the Academic Advising Center.
(Critical) Maintain frequent and individual contact with RAs at least a minimum of two one on one meetings with each Resident Assistant per month.
(Very Important) Provides support and coordinates resources for students having academic difficulties and/or students who have obtained less than a 2.0 grade point average.
