This position is responsible for the maintenance and continual improvement of equipment and facilities related to the manufacture of sprinklers and valves for the fire protection industry, including supervising the electricians, machine repair and general maintenance team. Ensures strategic business objectives are met including project completion, cost, quality and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and participate in all daily maintenance functions such as breakdowns and repairs, project planning for materials, and preventative maintenance.
- Maintains the plant facilities to create a neat, clean and safe work environment.
- Supervise electrician and maintenance personnel ensuring compliance with all process, quality, and safety standards
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of union contract.
- Maintains and assists training programs and apprentice programs designed to increase the effectiveness of maintenance personnel.
- Coordinates maintenance activities between shifts.
- Provides manufacturing with trouble shooting and technical maintenance support and coaching.
- Responsible for maintenance budget and spending within set limits.
- Prepare work procedures, schedules, expedite workflow, and track performance
- Manage maintenance projects to scope, on time, and within budget requirements
- Work with different departments and contractors to coordinate repairs, maintenance activities, improvements, audit equipment, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Advises and recommends equipment and procedures to improve maintenance department productivity.
- Develop and maintain equipment maintenance documentation, including Preventative Maintenance tasks, Standard Work Instructions, and Set-up sheets
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product
- Participates in cross-functional teams to implement new equipment and processes.
- Manage spare parts ordering, tracking, and inventory
- Support the specification, quoting, purchase and runoff of capital equipment, tooling and systems required for manufacturing.
- Assists with instruction and training of employees to achieve company goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
- 10+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment, with 5+ years in a supervisor role
- Maintenance experience required, facilities management is a plus
- Experience working in a Union workforce environment
- Knowledge in CNC machining, Automation, Robotics, cellular assembly, CAD tools, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- Required ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems and solid problem solving skills required.
- Prefer knowledge of castings, screw machine, and stampings.
- Demonstrated strong project management, communication and leadership skills.
