As the Procurement Manager, you will oversee all procurement functions, including the implementation and growth of Category Management strategies across various segments of logistics and transportation, formalize supplier relationships to drive reliability, and negotiate large and small scale pricing agreements with immediate impact to the business. What you'll do on a typical day:
Manage a diverse supply base that is able to support all accounts within our organization
Conduct RFI's and RFP's and analyze rates, capability, and experience for determining supplier selections; make decisions while remaining compliant with the overall sourcing strategy
Create, manage, and maintain supplier benchmark pricing in support of new customer opportunities and organizational cost studies
Perform activities related to onboarding new suppliers into the network
Compile and interpret performance metrics for meetings with customers and suppliers; address operational issues as required. Participate in Quarterly and Annual business reviews.
Analyze data to ascertain changes, anomalies, or new opportunities within the network
Ensure departmental records are maintained in accordance with established policies, procedures and audit guidelines
What you need to succeed at XPO:
At a minimum, you'll need
Bachelor's degree in Logistics or a related field, or equivalent related work or military experience
5 years of combined experience in strategic procurement and logistics/operations
Solid experience with all modes of transportation and logistics
Understanding of and experience with various rate structures.
Strong experience with and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Access)
It'd be great if you also have:
Advanced degree in Logistics or a related field
Availability to travel 5-10% of the time
Self-motivated work style; experience working well with minimal direct supervision or in a team environment; comfortable consulting with team members and management as needed
Strong interpersonal, organizational, multitasking and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience working independently under tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment
