QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant must have extremely strong writing skills, possess a strong knowledge in budget development, be very detail oriented, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, able to prioritize workload effectively, work confidently in a variety of subject areas, supportive of a team environment, and function productively under tight deadlines. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Planning, Journalism, Public Administration, Human or Social Services, or similar discipline.
OR
The equivalent combination of education, and/or documented grant writing experience, and/or training.
Applicant must demonstrate ability in narrative and technical writing and budget development skills.
Successfully secured funding from Federal or State sources is required.
Language Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of leadership, professionals, supervisors, department managers, staff and community members. In, addition the ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and program/project development skills, feel comfortable writing on a variety of subject areas, and have familiarity with Tribal government operations and processes, as well as with the culture and traditional ways.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and data presentation. Experience and expertise with statistical analysis and presenting statistics to support a need or problem. Expertise in budget & budget justification development, and a clear and applicable understanding of basic accounting principles.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office, Internet software, E-mail. Web-based research and applications, grants.gov, and formatted document manipulation.
Skills Required: Diplomatic, effective phone, interpersonal and written communications; persuasive, concise writing skills; effective research abilities; ability to multitask and prioritize; strong organizational skills; respect of cultural norms; strong mathematical/accounting skills in budget development & justification.
Other Skills and Abilities: Must be able to travel as required and needed.
