A day in the life of a Construction Technician at NTH
- Complete and submit accurate Daily Field Reports.
- Perform routine tasks, tests, and computations associated with construction materials testing and field observations under the supervision of the Project Engineer/Project Manager. This will include sampling and testing of concrete, soils, asphalt, and other construction materials on construction projects.
- Assist engineering staff with field monitoring activities.
- Independently operate relevant testing/monitoring equipment.
- Assist with MDOT inspection activities.
- Perform other tasks, as necessary.
What you need to apply
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness and ability to review activities on construction sites and make preliminary evaluations and provide opinions (cause and corrective action) on tasks/problems to NTH’s Project Engineer and/or Project Manager.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites/offices in Michigan.
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel, etc.
Preferred qualifications
- College/Vocational courses/associate degree.
- Certifications:
- ACI/MCA Concrete Testing Technician Level I or above
- MDOT Density Technology Certification
- One or more years of field experience in concrete, soils, and pavement testing and inspection.
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings, specifications, MDOT requirements, and other construction documents.
- Experience with MDOT Field Book software and MDOT forms.
