Position Summary
The College of Education at Michigan State University invites applications for a fixed-term position as Lansing Area Elementary Internship Coordinator in the Department of Teacher Education. This position is a full-time appointment on an academic year basis and covers student enrollment in Lansing Area Michigan school districts. The position will be located in East Lansing, MI.
Responsibilities will include some combination of the following:
The successful candidate will perform the following job duties and responsibilities:
- Developing daily operational responsibility for organizational relationships with schools and districts (e.g., meeting with school district administration, school administrators and teachers to identify and secure appropriate internship placements for students and communicating program policies and procedures);
- Providing continuous support to field instructors in their work with interns;
- Maintaining ongoing communication with and providing professional development for mentor teachers;
- Mediating difficult conversations and disputes involving any combination of students, mentors, instructors and administrators as needed;
- Organizing and facilitating events, including Lansing Area Elementary Opening Day, Lansing Area Michigan Elementary Convocation, and Elementary Mentor Teacher and Field Instructor Meetings;

Providing and updating data for program assistants and assisting in the collection and distribution of various forms, using platforms such as GoReact, Via, Qualtrics, and D2L; and,
- The person in this position will also support the Teacher Preparation Program Director in interviewing and making recommendations for hiring field instructors and perform other duties as assigned. The position may also include teaching in the Teacher Preparation Program.

Minimum Requirements
Desired Degree: A doctorate is preferred, but outstanding candidates with a master’s degree and exceptional experience will be considered.
Minimum Degree: A master’s degree in a relevant field.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a masters degree and experience teaching and working in K-12 public school settings; successful collaborative leadership experience; experience facilitating teacher learning, pre-service or in-service; strong communication skills; demonstrated commitment to meeting the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse learners; skills in collaborating with teachers and principals; demonstrated commitment to enacting humanizing, equity and justice-focused pedagogies and practices.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with MSU partner schools; experience working with Lansing Area or other urban school districts; experience planning events; experience with data management and/or evaluation; experience using technology to solve problems.
