DEPARTMENT SUMMARYLocated within Gas Asset Management, Compression Engineering is responsible for the overall integrity, strategic planning, and execution of projects across Consumers Energy's fleet of (8) compressor stations. The Compression Station Engineering team works in a team setting in the role of lead and/or technical support engineer for project execution, maintenance, or troubleshooting related to compressor station equipment. Compression Station Engineering also works closely with project managers, engineers of other disciplines, environmental engineers, plant operations and maintenance personnel, outage managers, construction managers, Architectural & Engineering firms, contracted labor, and vendor representatives to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and on budget. JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBLITIESThe Sr. Engineering Lead is responsible for the overall leadership, management, alignment and direction of the station engineering staff for Compression Assets. In this role, the Sr. Engineering Lead provides technical and management oversight of the Station Engineering Department staff to ensure that Compression equipment performance is monitored, required maintenance is specified, required upgrades are documented, justified and scoped, and significant equipment failures are understood and resolved looking across the different process and systems. This role is also responsible to work closely with engineering asset planning to ensure the 5-year capital plan is developed and submitted.This role will be responsible for decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities. Creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment will be required to anticipate and solve unique and controversial engineering problems, optimizing across all aspects of the compression systems and fleet; including problem solving and root cause analysis review and approval.This role will also be responsible for determining Gas Compression balance of plant and gas conditioning program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. These include aligning and optimizing the engineering solutions between gas conditioning and balance of plant systems, and solutions that need to be expanded to other fleet locations.This role requires direct interface with Operations personnel in both leadership and front-line worker capacity. The position requires the candidate to be able to review maintenance plans/tasks and procedures of different varieties (operating, maintenance, worker protection, and system outages) and provide feedback and/or corrective actions to the procedure owners and authors, in some instances may be required to author procedures or maintenance plans themselves. The specific duties/responsibilities include:•Planning, design, construction, and maintenance of gas compressor equipment, as well as supporting operations. Lead, problem solve, and work well in a team environment. •Should exemplify safe work practices and follow the company's compliance standards. •Lead and/or assist with engineering activities to include design, plans, inspections, system planning, specifications, reports, environmental impacts, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, data collection, construction observation, and field investigation. •Provide engineering services with accuracy, integrating all applicable governmental and company laws, standards and procedures on time and under budget. •Understand and follow company established standard procedures for file structure and standard drawing procedures for projects. •Assist in client contact and communication. Utilize effective oral and written communication skills to provide technical expertise to coworkers, clients, customers, government entities and the public. •Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders. •Attend internal and external meetings. •Provide all engineering services in a legal and ethical manner. •Serve as onsite project representative. •Review operating and construction sites to monitor progress and other duties per the design documents.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSThis Sr. Engineering Lead may be filled based on the...
