Job Title:
CNC OPERATOR
First shift hours are 5:00am-3:30pm and second shift hours are 3:30pm to 2am. Shifts are 10 hours each day Monday through Thursday. Davidson is currently working overtime on Fridays, as the workload permits. Overtime is a frequent occurrence but not always guaranteed. Overtime is paid after 40 hours of work per week and employees are paid on a weekly basis.
$1000 sign on bonus after 6 months of employment and another $1000 after 1 year! 40 hrs of vacation after 90 days!

SUMMARY: The CNC Operator is responsible to operate the CNC in an efficient manner, perform secondary operations as needed or assigned, follow all procedures, complete paperwork accurately, and perform job set-ups as needed and pursue training opportunities which further job skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
BEGINNING OF SHIFT:
Check shop packet for:
- Open balances on current jobs
- Any needed or special instructions to run current job
- Be sure area is setup with all necessary hand tools, sanding tables, correct blanks, etc.
- Mark machined part skid so the operator knows where his/her count starts for shift end paperwork.
- Run 1st cycle on each job and complete 1st piece inspection.
WHILE RUNNING PRODUCTION:
- Load and unload the CNC in a safe and efficient manner.
- Tool hole parts for both jobs currently running.
- Perform any secondary operations done at the CNC; sanding, counter boring, spindle carve, etc.
- Check parts for quality on every part by visual inspection and perform dimensional checks following the control plan or blue sample.
- Stack machined parts on a skid in a neat and orderly manner.
- Label skids properly before moving them away from the CNC to the staging area.
- Retrieve blanks from holding area or press area when needed.
- Perform any job setups after the appropriate training.
END OF SHIFT:
- Clean up work area
- Fill out shop packet cover sheet with shift totals on each job.
- Fill out production tickets.
- Return any tools, fixtures, etc., to their proper locations if not being used.
- Record and label scrap and move it to the scrap holding area.
MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Clean saw dust form bellows two to three times per shift.
- Repair vacuum leaks that occur
- Clean vacuum pump filters each shift
- Remove saw dust from the back of the machine at the end of each shift.
- Clean spindles two to three times each shift.
- Check A and U axis for alignment each shift.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- The operation of Exposed machinery in a safe and productive manner.
- Responsible for meeting production rates and quality standards.
- Perform necessary quality verifications.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on machinery.
- Maintain the tooling and machinery and adhere to all safety rules
- Work as a team member.
- Maintain work area cleanliness and organization.
- Complete shop packed and inspection reports
- Follow all department ISO procedures and work instructions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customer, clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat and vibration.
