Job Description
At General Motors, we are building on our momentum and are changing the way we do things. We translate breakthrough technologies into vehicles and experiences that people love. We are seeking experienced, motivated engineers to support the next generation of industry-leading Interior Systems.
As a Hard Trim and Overhead Systems DRE, you will be responsible to develop and integrate hard trim and overhead components into the vehicle interior.
Specific component integration that you will be responsible for include:
* Hard Trim components.
* Overhead systems components.
This position involves responsibility for development activities throughout a vehicle's lifecycle including:
* Definition of requirements
* Execution of design
* Testing and validation
This role requires an experienced engineer to lead and drive a cross-functional product development team including collaboration with the following groups:
* Within Engineering -
* Interior Restraints Systems
* Body Systems
* CCC Overhead and Hard Trim components
* Electrical System
* HVAC System
* Cargo Management System
* Outside of Engineering -
* Creative Design
* Purchasing
* Manufacturing
* Quality
* Suppliers
Additional Job Description
Education Required:
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
Experience Required:
* Three or more years of experience developing and executing technical solutions for mechanical components to support new vehicle programs
* Balancing business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, and timing
* Comfort working with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams
* Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and rapid change in a results-driven environment
Preferred Skills:
* Previous DRE experience
* Knowledge of plastic materials, compression molding and injection molding
* Familiarity with structured problem solving methods such as:
* Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) - Green belt certification or higher
* Red-X
* Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance)
