Job Description Summary
This position reports to the Value Stream Manager. The Zone Leader has the responsibility of maintaining and improving his/her work zone, treating it as his/her own business while supporting the company. The Zone Leader will manage direct report employees assigned to work in his/her assigned production zone.
The duties and responsibilities of the position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Ensuring Process Discipline through concepts including Standard Work, Training, Coaching and 5S
- Maintaining business documents and driving performance around Safety, Quality, Cost, and Execution of the Production Schedule
- Creating a Culture of Continuous Improvement
- Recognize and set priorities regarding staffing and production schedules
- Help achieve process improvements
- Use Lean tools to run and improve the business/work cell
- Responsible for cross-training employees throughout the facility
- Assure that each employee has a clear understanding of their job duties and responsibilities and can perform all assigned tasks at expected performance levels
- Strong focus on both internal and external customers
- Foster an environment that builds trust and teamwork through open communication
- Conduct formal performance evaluations as per company policy
- Develop and implement necessary performance improvement plans and administers disciplinary action as required
- Coach employees by providing timely and appropriate feedback on performance, including informal recognition for positive behaviors
- Manage and approve employee timecards and paid time off in Time/Attendance system
- Submit HRIS system changes such as transfers, demotions, terminations and promotions to Human Resources
- Participate in interviewing and hiring process for new employees

Requirements:
- Work Experience: 3 years leading teams in a manufacturing environment
- Education: High School Diploma
- Computer Skills: Ability to collect, interpret, and communicate data. Intermediate Microsoft program (Word, Excel) experience
- Technical Skills: Experience leading teams through structured problem solving (such as A3, 8D, DMAIC, etc.)
- Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability handling multiple priorities efficiently and effectively
- Communication Skills: Experience communicating effectively across a diverse customer-base; excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with individuals at all levels, both inside and outside the organization; Strong interpersonal skills that encourage, coach, lead and mentor employees with a continuous improvement mindset

- Physical Environment: Normal office environment; manufacturing and warehouse environment and exposure to moving equipment
Preferred Requirements:
- Work Experience: 3 years leading improvement teams in a lean environment, experience with metal fabrication, experience in lean transformation
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or similar area
- Technical Skills: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (must obtain in first 18 months), Kaizen facilitation, 5S, Total Productive Maintenance, Changeover reduction, Managing for Daily improvement
- Computer Skills: Minitab or other statistical software
