Job Summary
Under indirect and intermittent supervision for Fuel Supply Foreman and/or work direction of another Operator performs basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and performs switching and/or tagging of equipment (4160V and less). Operates control board, regulates systems and takes readings as required. While on patrol uses portable testers and local panels to monitor operating of all systems; checks battery chargers and batteries; trains and orients new employees; directs the work of other Fuel Supply Operators; and assists with all operations of the system.
Key Accountabilities
- Interpret integrator readings and control flow of coal to plant by locally or centrally starting and stopping conveyor belts and regulating belt speed. Monitor control panels to maintain proper blend and mimic panels to identify system failures. Maintain records of Fuel Supply Operators (including boat unloading) such as tonnage totals blend, etc.
- Perform basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of malfunctioning equipment using simple schematics and voltage testers (4160V or less).
- Check dust collectors, air compressors, and heat tracing systems to ensure proper operation; Perform minor servicing including filling with water and adjusting charging rate; Log inspection and service information.
- Check and monitor methane gas levels, heating and ventilation operation, escape tunnel ventilation fans; Verify heat tracing system operation to avoid freezing of pipes. Troubleshoot problems and take corrective actions as necessary.
- Issue maintenance orders (PN-21's) for equipment maintenance and repair.
- Responsible for operation of all fire protection systems throughout fuel supply including heat trace for winter operation. Log operating status and take corrective action as required.
- Operate the Krupp stacker/reclaimer, belts, drive motors, foam system, etc.; Position boom and stacks or reclaims coal in a manner consistent with daily coal handling schedule. Lubricate and clean motors, belts, pulleys, platforms, etc.
- Monitor coal pile spray towers, and assist in coordinating water wagon movements to control fugitive dust; Complete daily spray tower status reports during warm months and initiate corrective actions as required.
- Assist with start-up, shut down and monitoring of all fuel supply equipment as required; Assist with the cleanup of coal spills and remove plug gage from chutes, tracks, pulleys, etc.
Qualifications

Must have two years’ experience operating two of the three various types of mobile equipment such as bulldozers, twin engine scrappers or a minimum of a five yard bucket front end loader. Letter from employers, which verify two years or more of hands on experience with mobile equipment, must be provided. Letters must be on company letterhead, dated signed by human resources, list equipment, dates employed. Must pass the Mobile Equipment Training with six months
Successful completion of the Senior Fuel Supply Equipment Operator JIT Program within the established time requirements.
Must successfully complete the Basic Electricity Certificate within 9 months of placement in this classification.
Must successfully complete the Advanced Electrical Fundamental, 4160 V Tagging and Switching Program and Advanced Mechanical Fundamental course within 9 months.
Must able to lift and handle approximately 70 pounds.
Must have a valid driver's license and meet company driving standard.
Must pass satisfactory physical examination.
Must work shifts as assigned.

Must successfully complete an 8-10 week training course at the Training and Development Center which will be your assigned location throughout the training period.
