Summary
PorterCorp is looking for an HR Generalist to join our Human Resources team. The ideal candidate would have a strong recruiting background preferably in the Manufacturing or Construction industries. This is your opportunity to join a growing company and further expand your skills in an HR role.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform HR related duties on a professional level and works closely with the HR Manager assisting in the maintenance of policies, procedures and programs, administrative duties and full cycle personnel duties. This position assists in carrying out responsibilities in the areas of benefit administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy writing and implementation, recruitment/employment/retention, affirmative action and employment law compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide assistance in posting job advertisements, screening applications, arranging interviews, participating in selection process and obtaining temporary staff from agencies
- Monitors unemployment claims by reviewing claims, substantiating documentation
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
- Maintains human resources records by recording new hires, transfers and terminations
- Orients new employees by providing orientation information packets, reviewing company policies
- Gathering withholding and payroll information
- Explaining and obtaining signatures for benefit programs
- Interpreting, assisting and advising employees and managers regarding leave management, benefit administration and HR procedures and policies with the specified guidelines
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition and morale and training and development
- Maintains compliance with Federal and State regulations concerning employment
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications
- Provide assistance in monitoring employee performance appraisals
- Managing sensitive and confidential matters
- Participates in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategies
- Perform tasks and duties as it relates to occupational health and safety
- Supports employment related inquiries from applicants, employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelors Degree preferred
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred
- 2-5 years prior experience in HR or similar role strongly preferred
Travel
This position requires minimal travel (less than 25%).
Computer Skills
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint and Access
