GENERAL SUMMARY:
* Sterile instrumentation processing.
* Terminal cleaning/decontamination of patient care instrumentation and equipment in accordance with regulatory agency standards.
* Diagnostic and biological testing of all surgical sterilization equipment.
* Responsible for distribution of supplies to hospital departments and nursing units as needed.
* Responsible to precept and train all students and/or trainees.
* To provide skills, knowledge and to coordinate any and all projects developed by the management and staff.
* To support any and all surgical areas.
* Responsible for, but not limited to, the management of incoming and outgoing loaner instrumentation, instrument repairs and tracking/trending, immediate use sterilization, and management of daily instrument turnovers. Responsible for maintaining surgical sets for assigned surgical specialties.
* To act as a role model for staff and employ the Beaumont Standards.
* Other duties as assigned by manager.
* Will be on-call as stated on the CPD schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
* Prep & Pack: Assembles/wraps instrumentation trays for surgery/various departments per recommended practices. Check in and check out all loaner sets. Arrange and manage all instrument repairs. Assess surgical case needs and arrange and assist with immediate use sterilization and rapid turnover of sets.
* Decontamination: Decontamination of equipment, instrumentation, and implants in accordance with established procedures. Used correct procedures and protective equipment when working with hazardous and toxic chemicals. Understands and operates all systems, i.e. Cart wash, washer-decontaminators. Responsible for decontamination of patient care equipment/surgical instrumentation and various hospital departmental equipment
* Case Carts: Checks with case cart person to verify needs are met. Assembles sterile instrumentation/supplies for surgical procedures per OR/CPD specifications when needed. Maintains rotation of instrumentation/supplies.
* Sterilization: Responsible for practice of safe/efficient/effective sterilization (steam/HCO2/ cold sterilization/flashing) procedures when required. Process biological testing according to protocol when required.
* Coordinate instrument priorities and maintain communication with OR leadership as issues arise. Proactively assist in resolving these issues. Acts as a liaison between OR and CPD. Oversees changes to OR specialties as needed and directs staff about changes.
* To act as a mentor to CPD staff while maintaining a positive attitude.
* To assist as a member of interviewing panels
* To maintain communications with department management regarding schedule changes, employee or instrument issues.
* Other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor staff.

A. Education/Training:
* High School Diploma required
* Certified Registered Central Service Technician
B. Work Experience:
* 1-2 Years' experience as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician
C. Certification, Licensure, Registration:
* Certified Registered Central Service Technician
