Job Description
Analytical R+D Chemist
Albemarle - South Haven is looking for an experienced analytical chemist to join our R+D group. This person will support development efforts on new and existing small-molecule API products at the kilo lab, pilot plant, and production scales. The ideal candidate will bring analytical innovation and strong communication skills both within a team and with customers to our GMP manufacturing facility. While experience with GC/LC techniques is essential, other analytical expertise in the areas of impurity identification, GCMS, LCMS, or ICPMS are of particular interest. Some GMP experience is desirable.
Education and Experience required
Note, the right candidate at any experience level will be considered. As a guideline:
- PhD in analytical chemistry or related field with 1-2 years of experience in an industry R+D environment
- MS in analytical chemistry or related field with 2-3 years of experience in an industry R+D environment
- Bachelors in analytical chemistry or related field with 4-5 years of experience in an industry R+D environment
- Chromatography ( LC and GC ) experience a must
Job Requirements
- Responsible for method development, method transfer and method validation in a GMP environment. GMP experience is desirable.
- Experience developing LC and GC methods for in-process controls and final product analysis is essential
- Ability to bring innovative analytical techniques into our projects. Comfortable learning new technologies whenever needed to support a project
- Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills both with team members on site, colleagues and customers. Must be able to function in a customer focused environment with outside customers, chemists, QA and QC lab personnel
- Proven ability in problem solving and bringing analytical innovation to solve chemical problems.
- Experience in advanced analytical techniques including GCMS, LCMS, ICPMS, trace analysis, or CAD detection would give a candidate a considerable advantage.
- Proven experience managing analytical problems and projects
