Position Summary:
The Assistant Golf Professional assists the Head Golf Professional in the day-to-day operations of the golf shop. He/She should demonstrate a commitment to a career in the golf industry and promote the game of golf. The Assistant Golf Professional should have a clear understanding that he/she not only represents themselves, but also the facility where they work, and their co-workers. Their personality should promote a friendly environment and their quality of work should be high, to ensure an exceptional golf experience which meets/exceeds SCR standards of service.
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
- Promptly and politely greet golfers and quests as they arrive.
- Check in golfers and collect the appropriate fees.
- Assist guests with making tee-time reservations.
- Must have complete knowledge of rates, classifications, and policies that relate to the golf operation.
- Perform retail merchandising functions as directed by supervisor and the merchandising staff..
- Clean and straighten the Pro Shop daily.
- Ensure pace of play and acceptable behavior standards are being met on the golf course.
- Answer the phones and be able to answer a variety of questions both golf and non-golf related.
- Be familiar with groups and their functions/activities while on the property.
- Perform tournament and league administration for groups and members.
- Train, supervise and educate pro-shop, lot attendant, and player assistant staff.
- Display positive and friendly behaviors to guests and fellow associates.
- Assist other golf staff with their duties and responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Professional Experience:
This position requires a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in the operation of a golf pro shop, preferably in a resort/hotel setting.
Education:
A minimum of one year post secondary education is required..
Required Skills:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- PGA Membership is recommended, but not required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment is required..
