Universal Coating has a job opening for a "Shift Coordinator-Phos Line" (Experienced required as a Phos Operator)
Shift: 10:55 pm to 7am
Requirements: Must have previous work experience as a Phos Operator
Job duties
This is a working supervisor position. When not performing one of the supervisory tasks, the
Shift Coordinator - Phos is expected operate the Phos Line and perform in any capacity
necessary and appropriate to expedite the completion of scheduled jobs.
1. Complete all assigned job orders on schedule (meet ship dates).
2. Consistently produce a product that meets the customer’s specifications.
Learn and use Job Sheets and Work Instruction manuals.
Accurately follow special directions or handling instructions.
Ensure that proper start up and shut down procedures are being followed according
to the checklists and the product that is being run.
Inspect parts coming off the line, ensuring all product specifications are met and
preventing rejects and rework.
Inform the Production Manager and Quality Control immediately if there is a quality
problem.
3. Loading operations:
Ensure proper process cycle is identified for each load of parts.
Load and operate dump hopper according to instructions.
Weigh phosphate barrels and load parts according to the Job Sheet.
Weigh customer’s containers and record appropriately.
Make sure information for coating weight sample parts are written up and put in bag
for the unloader to collect for analysis.
4. Unloading Operations:
Ensure that parts are inspected before unloading into dryer baskets to avoid
expending extra labor on parts that may have to go through the line again.
Correctly unload dryer barrels according to the customer’s instructions and place in
dryer.
Remove from dryer, inspect and pack according to customer’s instructions.
Fill out required paperwork accurately and place in the container with parts.
Make sure parts for coating weight samples are saved and put in a bag for analysis.
Make sure the finished product meets customer specifications before sending the
parts on for shipping or painting.
5. Avoid downtime/idle time by planning alternative work for times when parts or material
shortages have halted progress on a scheduled job or during a line changeover.
6. Work with Production Manager to make adjustments necessary when an unplanned
worker’s absence occurs.
7. Monitor all Phos operations and arrange for maintenance and repair of machines,
equipment and the facility.
8. Maintain all cleaning standards and requirements:
Keep inside of dump hopper and general work area clean and free of debris.
Make sure dryers are operational and the area around the dryer is clean.
Keep catwalk area clean and free from debris.
Assist in emptying and cleaning process tanks.
8. Crane Operations:
Maintain line production by maintaining a minimum of 8 barrels and a maximum of 10
barrels.
Maintain a line rate of 7 – 8 barrels per hour.
Maintain a close watch on chemical tank appearances, levels and temperatures. If
abnormal, contact your supervisor or the Quality Department immediately.
Make sure tanks that are not being used are properly covered and turned off.
9. Titration’s:
Ensuring that titration’s are performed per the Titration manual.
Titration readings are recorded accurately on the Tank Titration Log Sheet.
This requires complete knowledge of the phos line operation in order to be able to
correct any situations that are not producing the required quality.
Immediately inform the Production Manager and the Quality Manager of test results
that will adversely impact the production run.
10. Make sure that all equipment and tools used in your work area are working properly.
Promptly notify maintenance and/or the supervisor of equipment that must be taken out
of service.
11. Ensure Phos Department employees are following prescribed safety procedures and
maintaining safe working conditions throughout the shop.
12. Provide on the job training, instruction and feedback for department personnel.
a. Ensure that all employees under your supervision are fully instructed in proper
work procedures, safety practices and company rules and regulations.
b. Monitor the effectiveness of training performed and evaluate whether each
employee receiving the training retained the required knowledge and is
demonstrating the desired proficiency in the tasks, duties, functions or processes
in which he or she was trained.
c. Identify any deficiencies in the training and request assistance from the Quality
Manager in correcting the deficient area(s).
d. Modify training plans/ programs and re-train accordingly; continue monitoring for
the desired results.

13. Assist the Production Manager - Phos and QA Manager in handling Corrective Actions.
14. Complete employee evaluations on time and in accordance with the frequency level
established by the Company.
15. Track incidences of absenteeism, tardiness and early departures of Phos personnel.
Ensure that this information is given to the HR Manager on the proper form and on time.
16. Perform all other duties as directed by the Production Manager – Phos.
