General Summary:
Manages a caseload of neonatal patients with consultation, collaboration, and general supervision from the Neonatologists. Utilizing extensive knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacology, and physiology, the NNP exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of certain delegated medical processes and procedures. As a family centered care provider, the NNP provides education and support to families. As an advanced practice neonatal nurse, the NNP exercises nursing leadership through clinical practice, student and staff education.
Standard Qualifications:
Education:
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (if completed NNP program prior to the year 2000)
* Master of Science in Nursing (if completed NNP program after the year 2000)
* Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certificate Program
Experience:
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in the NICU
Licensure:
* Current Michigan Registered Nurse License
* Current Michigan Nurse Practitioner Specialty Certification License
Certifications:
* Current NCC certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
* Current AHA BLS certification
* Current NRP certification
This position will be working potentially either 24 hour shifts (8am to 8am) or 12 hour shifts (8am to 8pm). This will vary depending upon scheduling needs.
