Simulation Engineer
IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY
Simulations Engineer is a position in the Simulations Team that will work along with dynamic engineering teams in Gentherm’s Advanced Research and Development and Applications Engineering groups. You will be responsible to support various fast paced engineering projects and lead the development of innovative CAE methods right from ideation and creation of new concepts and methodologies across all technical business units.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing thermal systems analysis of new products under development in Gentherm Advanced Engineering group and supporting existing programs.
- Modeling flow, heat transfer for various pre-development and production components and porous media using commercially available software Ansys CFX, Fluent, Star-CCM+ (knows atleast one) and TAITherm (required).
- Research and develop new simulation models based on data from test lab.
- Testing thermal systems, writing test procedures and analyzing test data.
- Performing human comfort modeling in automobile with detailed understanding of Berkeley Model.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or similar
- Several years of experience in computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer
- Advanced knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamics
- Proficiency in CAD design using 3D CAD software Solidworks, Siemens NX, CATIA, Design Modeler or Spaceclaim.
- Proficiency analyzing thermal systems using commercial software packages
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Siemens STAR CCM+
- Ability to write technical documents, draft patents and articles if necessary
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or similar
- Experience in using TAITherm or similar tools in thermal calculations
- Ability to plan, organize and conduct wind tunnel testing to gather data and generate test reports
- Experience with automotive cabin thermal engineering and comfort considerations
