GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Lead Biomedical Technician provides direction and leadership as well as expertise in the areas of evaluation, installation, inspection, calibration and repair of equipment or utility and will oversee the Biomed shop operations in the absence of Biomed Manager. Works closely with the Beaumont Biomed Leadership Team and Grosse Pointe Site Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Coordinates, motivates and schedules work for department. Work order prioritization and assignment of tasks to technicians. Manages the daily operations for scheduled and corrective maintenance work orders. Handles work flow conflicts. Has strong working knowledge of CMMS system. Assuring work order information accuracy on the CMMS for asset management. Assuring complete, accurate work order data entry by technicians.
- Repairs, installs, and performs preventive maintenance, performance assurance, pre-purchase evaluation, incoming inspection and calibration of medical equipment and systems.
- Provides redundancy coverage for the Department. The expectation is the leader will keep department operational during supervisor's absence.
- Performs varied clinical engineering functions such as technology management and technical consulting.
- Assists Supervisor with investigations and resolution of equipment-related variances. Provides resolution of customer services issues/complaints. Helps to problem solve operational issues and serves as the first point of contact for department.
- Ensures all repair and maintenance documentation conforms to Joint Commission standards.
- Assists employees with completing individual development objectives. As well as department goals.
- Takes responsibility for constructively confronting and resolving problems. Participates in open communication and teamwork activities. Delivers on commitments in a high quality and timely fashion. Demonstrates pride in the organization.
- Provides expertise to minimize equipment downtime.
- Participates in the on-call program.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree in applied science biomedical engineering technology or associates degree in applied science electronic technology with medical experience required.
- Minimum five years of experience as a biomedical equipment technician.
- Must have and maintain CBET certification.
