Job Description
The
Director, Power Electronics
will be based in
Farmington Hill, Michigan
. This role is responsible for leading Flexs technology development and project execution for Power Electronics programs. You will interface with multiple internal and external customers while identifying requirements, technology and development activities for electrification products including DC-DC, BMS, OBC and inverters. You will provide technical leadership to develop internal roadmaps, engage potential customers, and propose technical solutions to win OEM business worldwide. Your direction and oversight will extend into Flexs worldwide design center teams as they onboard, develop and deploy electrification solutions to mass production. This position requires and experiences professional with a background in automotive power electronics design from OEMs or Tier 1 and have a track record of successfully launching new automotive electrification systems into production.

Here is a glimpse of what youll do:
Lead the design and development of Flexs electrification platforms
Oversee and advise on the deployment of Flexs electrification platforms into production
Functionally lead power electronics technical specialists within the global automotive engineering organization
Assess current capability areas and processes and recommend initiatives to strengthen or expand capabilities
Build the power electronics organizational capability. Define key positions; assess employee competency, capabilities and gaps; training and development assignments; and support recruitment to strengthen organization
Provide functional guidance and professional mentorship to the power electronics technical specialists and electrical engineering managers
Define electrification business and technical development strategies for customer engagement
Develop technical roadmaps for internal engineering development
Work with key technology providers to understand leading edge solutions and develop strategic partnerships
Provide technical leadership in customer engagements Provide technical leadership for internal design teams performing ADAS development
Here is some of what youll need (required):
A minimum bachelors degree in a related Engineering discipline
Higher degrees preferred
Experience working with cross functional teams: mechanical, firmware, test, and manufacturing.
Understanding of AC-DC and/or DC-DC Converter topologies and control methods. Power Electronics product design experience a plus.
Experience working with three phase power (240Vac to 480Vac) and DC voltages up to 1500V.
Experience with design and troubleshooting of circuit board and power stage design for high voltage power electronics systems based on IGBT or SiC MOSFET
Experience determining electrical and thermal stress of power electronics components
Experience simulating circuit and physics models, using tools such as PLECS, Simulink, COMSOL, ANSYS
Knowledge of applicable safety standards including ISO, IEC, ASPICE and others
A track record of bringing automotive power electronics design into production
Demonstrated experience developing engineering proposals for customer sales engagements
Ability to travel internationally
High level of oral, written and interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers and others
Here are a few of our preferred experiences:
5-10 years Tier 1 or OEM experience in power electronics product development
Understanding and experience of power electronics vehicle integration and testing.
Understanding and experience in Functional Safety aspects of functional safety.
Exposure to multiple OEMs in a technical role
