Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy and headquartered in Jackson, Michigan, provides natural gas and electricity to nearly 6.8 million of Michigan's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.Position Summary•Provide planning and coordination support to the System Control Specialist.•Support TOA administrative functions and serve as primary backup.•Prepare switching orders for review by System Control Specialist•Monitor and manage workload on a state-wide basis to ensure proper span of control•Support writing/updating procedures for departmentResponsibilities•Provide effective and thorough communication with attention to detail during discussions with individuals and departments responsible for operations of substations, lines and interconnection points with transmission providers to assure scheduled work does not jeopardize system security.•Responsible for preparing and coordinating Scheduled Outages to support the System Control Specialist to ensure outages are executed in a safe, efficient and reliable manner as set forth by the policies, procedures and guidelines of Consumers Energy and all applicable regulatory agencies that may include NERC, ITC, MIOSHA, MPSC, MISO and RFC.•Provides statewide monitoring of outage requests to ensure the SCC/DCC Control room can support the work.•Responsible to work with appropriate field groups to define outage timelines and return to service dates.•Provides statewide monitoring of outage requests to ensure the SCC/DCC Control room can support the work.•Ensures outages are requested in accordance with the Scheduled Outage Lead Time guidelines.•Provides support to update or create procedures for the Scheduled Outage group.Required Qualifications•A Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field or experience (internal/external) in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.•1 or more years of experience in an applicable field with knowledge of HVD and LVD equipment.Preferred Qualifications•Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work unsupervised and a self-starter.•Ability to read wiring diagrams, patrol maps, data diagrams and relay schematics.•Familiar with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, TOA, OMS, SCADA, CROW.•Ability to communicate with multiple work groups.•Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and solve problems previously encountered.•Familiar with substation and line equipment.Essential FunctionsGeneral technical analysis supports the planning, technical analysis, general management, negotiations, transactions, customer services and auditing of a wide variety of technical and business functions and technical processes of specific operating and support areas throughout the company.Duties and who this individual reports to will fluctuate between projects, departments and offices.Lead and/or assist with technical support for the plans, reports, impacts, contracts, schedules, estimates, data collection, observation, and field investigation.Provide technical, non-engineering support services with accuracy, on time and under budget.Use computer assisted applications software and equipment to prepare technical support documents.Understand and follow company established standard procedures for file structure and standard procedures for projects.Become familiar with business and technical plans and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately.Assists in client contact and communication.Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public.Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders.Attend internal and external meetings.Provide technical support services in a legal and ethical manner.Regular attendance is expected.Hours and TravelThis position requires the individual work 40 hours per week with 70% of the time spent in the office and 30% or specific field locations.Physical Demands / Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.•The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.•The employee must frequently lift and move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and move up to fifty pounds.
