The Engineering Internship Program at Consumers Energy has core principles of skill development, ability enhancement, and knowledge application - experience designed to be complementary to traditional classroom instruction.Job Description/ResponsibilitiesCurrent college students of all levels will work as part of a larger team to provide hands-on support and design/development for various engineering aspects of our business. This could include work in energy delivery - electric engineering, energy delivery - gas engineering, energy operations, and more - all while helping create a better tomorrow for the communities we serve!In addition to working alongside full time employees carrying out the engineering function for Consumers Energy, Engineering Interns will have the option to participate in a number of additional optional events within the program. This includes intern networking events, company tours, and the consistently top-ranked philanthropic event, the Intern Challenge.There are so many new, exciting opportunities in the world of engineering. The following MUST be true to be eligible for an Intern role.•A current full-time student•currently pursuing Bachelor's in Engineering at ABET school•currently pursuing a Master's in Engineering at ABET school•currently pursuing an Engineering-related Master's while having completed a Bachelor's in Engineering at ABET schoolMinimum GPA requirement of 2.7 or higher.The following skills and experiences may set you apart from others:•Hands-on experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)•Knowledge of MS Outlook is ideal•Ability to be flexible and adaptable to new assignments and projects•Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are critical•Must possess the attitude and aptitude to learn new skills and concepts•Ability and willingness to work independently or as part of team in order to complete tasks•Prior work and/or internship experience is a plusThe location of the internship may vary depending upon assignment and travel within the State of Michigan may be required. Individual should exemplify safe work practices and follow the company's compliance standards. Lead and/or assist with engineering projects to include design, plans, inspections, system planning, specifications, reports, maps, environmental impacts, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, surveying, easements, data collection, construction observation, and field investigation. Provide engineering services with accuracy, integrating all applicable governmental and company laws, standards and procedures on time and under budget.
