Automation Engineer - Components
Kendall Electric, Inc. a leading regional full-line Electrical Distributor is seeking an ambitious, self-motivated individual for an Automation Engineer - Components position in the Lansing, Saginaw, or Alpena, Michigan area.
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is to be a technical sales resource for the Components Portfolio (supported products and solutions) that includes Industrial Control, Sensing, Safety, and Machine Vision offered by Rockwell Automation and other partnering manufacturers, sold and distributed by Kendall Electric. This role includes territory business development, pre-sales, and post-sales support for the above-mentioned portfolio. The position will also be responsible for competency development of our inside and outside sales teams. The individual in this role will require commercial leadership and collaboration with Rockwell Automation and our other partners.
Position Description:
This position is responsible for ensuring that the following activities occur for supported products and services for the Lansing, Saginaw, and Alpena Area of Primary Responsibility (APR):
- Work with Kendall Account Managers to further develop their business by developing target opportunities and assisting them with closing sales.
- Work with Kendall Inside Sales in quoting, processing orders, and servicing customers.
- Work with customers on applications, projects, and other pre-sales activities.
- Work with customers on post-sale technical questions, issues, and/or commercial situations.
- Be a single point of contact to Rockwell Automation and partnering manufacturers within the APR.
- Create, own, and execute a business plan that includes:
- Commercial Plan with activities driving new business and conversion opportunities.
- Competency Plan that includes self, inside, and outside sales.
- Target Accounts for self and outside sales.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology degree/certificate, or equivalent training/experience.
- Knowledge and experience with industrial automation which includes PLCs, HMIs, Networks, Industrial Controls, Motor Controls, Sensing, Safety, and Motion Control products.
- Understanding of machinery and mechanics.
- Hands-on electrical/mechanical knowledge and experience.
- Enjoys working with others to design controls systems, equipment, and to solve problems.
- Interest or experience working in a sales environment.
- Self-motivated to learn new technologies and accomplish tasks when due.
- Effective presentation skills in both small and large group settings.
Compensation: Salary plus commission
