Metro Health is seeking a full time Surgical Services Materials Management Coordinator - Operating Room * Days -
Under the supervision and direction of the Clinical Director of the Operating Room (OR) and Central Processing Department (CPD), the Surgical Services Materials Management Coordinator is responsible for the selection, care, maintenance, and availability of all instruments and equipment for Surgical Services.
Requirements:
- Completion of recognized Surgical Technologist program or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Bachelor degree in health care or business preferred.
- Knowledge of instrumentation and equipment for the Surgical Services areas.
- Interpersonal verbal communication skills.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assesses, validates and acquires special requests from physicians for surgical procedures.
- Initiates ordering of special order items with direction from OR RN Clinical Specialists, Clinical Coordinators and/or Clinical Director of Operating Room/Central Processing.
- Collaborates with OR RN Clinical Specialist, Clinical Coordinators, and Boarding Scheduler to prevent equipment/instrument conflicts by reviewing surgery schedule.
- Coordinates with Operating Room staff and Central Processing Supervisor to assure proper cleaning and storage of instruments.
- Meets with new surgeons and Clinical Director of Operating Room/Central Processing and/or Director of Surgical Services to review and evaluate equipment/supply requests.
- Collaborates with Patient Financial Services and Decision Support to maintain current pricing, make edits as necessary, build charge codes, and intiate purchase orders.
- Assists Clinical Director of Operating Room/Central Processing with budgetary input related to equipment/supplies/instruments.
- Ensures the safe working condition of all equipment used in the Operating Room and Central Processing Departments. Coordinates with Clinical Engineering to assure biomedical inspection and/or maintenance work.
- Identifies new equipment and/or instrument educational needs and provides to Unit Educator.
- Other duties as assigned with regular and predictable attendance.
