Description:
We need someone to work in two buildings with 2-3 students one-on-one. A couple would be in person and one would be virtually.
Hours: 32.5 hours per week (One school from from around 8:30am - 11:30am, another from 11:40am - 3:15pm)
POSITION SUMMARY
- Supports the teacher to insure the best possible learning experience for the special education children in a safe and secure environment while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist one-on-one, small groups or classroom with students under the supervision of the teacher as directed.
- Limited assisting teacher with completing academic tasks.
- Limited assisting in engaging student with instructional activities developed by the teacher i.e. reading, writing, math, spelling, and life skills, etc.
- Maintain behavior and utilize behavior intervention when necessary.
- Assist in student self-care needs, limited academic student support.
- Familiarize yourself with individual student requirements.
- Communicate with community, staff, and students to answer questions, disseminate or explain information.

EDUCATION:
This position requires high school diploma or equivalent.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONS: May be required to take additional classes to address students' specific need
Training is as follows:
- Annual Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (CPl)(6hrs)
- Annual Core Special Ed training as an overview of disabilities in general (3-1 hr sessions)
- Training in areas of physical development, social/emotional skills including behavior, cognitive and communication abilities, and daily living skills specific to student needs
- Individual training as needed for physical needs
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with children, required
- Experience working with special education students, preferred.
