Position Description:
- Design and build of mechanical and electro-optical test equipment systems
- Assemble precision Electro / Optical / Mechanical components in support of product development and production test needs
- Perform fabrication, integration and calibration of electronic, electrical, software, optical and mechanical test equipment necessary to test optical / mechanical products.
- Use general purpose and highly specialized optical test equipment and unique apparatus necessary to conduct performance tests to valuate designs, verify test sample conformance to hardware documentation and calibration of sophisticated test stations and gages.
- Travel to production facilities to deploy, calibrate and maintain electro-optical test equipment.
- Execute and troubleshoot testing conducted in the Electro-Optics and Radiometer Labs.
- Assist department engineers in the preparation of test procedures, documentation of designs and unique test configurations.
- Record data, generate reports, and maintain records on various unique electro-optical assemblies.
- Demonstrate 'problem solving' skills to expedite completion of all projects supported in laboratories.
- Component selection, procurement, and involvement in test equipment builds.
- Assist in maintaining department and laboratory facilities in conformance to GDLS standards.
Position Requirements:
- Applicable experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
- Labview, Visual Basic, Vision Softwares and Basic Programming Language a plus but not necessary
- Experience with CAD tools, such as CREO/Pro-E, SolidWorks, Catia.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Can create 2D prints for machine shop fabrication.
- Can design in 3D CAD models.
- Experience with general machining and fabrication processes.
- Self-motivated individual, well organized, work with teams and multifunction departments
- Willing to travel - occasionally out of town for 5 to 14 days
