Job Summary
Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
The Associate Program for the Power & Industrial Group (a subsidiary of DTE Energy Company) is seeking ambitious, energetic, quatitatively adept individuals with an interest in high visibility roles in finance and strategy for their rotational development program, based at its Ann Arbor, Michigan headquarters.
A strong candidate possesses a broad range of financial and commerical skills, is capbable of managing the details of complex transactions, and has the ability to work within a team-oriented environment in rapidly evolving markets. You must have at a minimum a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and be pursuing an advanced degree from a top-tier school.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
We seek candidates who are pursuing an MBA or other advanced degree in a related field, from a top-tier school. A technical or quantitative undergraduate degree is a plus. A minimum of three to four years of progressive work experience is preferred, along with the following demonstarated skills and personal characteristics:
- Strong quantitative and financial modeling capability
- An aptitude for and an interest in financial analysis
- The ability to understand and analyze complex business issues
- The ability to clearly communicate results to senior management
- The ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment
- A high level of maturity, integrity, confidence, intellectual curiosity, initiative taking, the ability to get agreement and/or buy-in, and a team oriented work ethic
The Program
Associates rotate through three assignments within the Power & Industiral Group, each lasting approximately eight months. In their assignments, Associates work within multidisciplinary teams formed to identify, evaluate, and execute energy-related transactions and strategies. Following the program, participants will transition into new positions based on their interests and company needs.
Examples of specific assignments include:
- Identifying and screening potential acquisition candidates
- Conducting valuation, due diligence, structuring, negotiation and integration for an acquisition
- Developing and negotiating the pricing and structure for an on-site co-generation project
- Evaluating investments in new renewable energy technologies
- Developing a marketing plan to grow an existing product line
To ensure an effective transition to DTE, Associates will be assigned an advisor. Associates will also receive training in valuation, problem solving, communication, and industry specific topics.
