Responsibilities
Dematic Corp has a need in ourGrand Rapids, MI office fora Product Engineer in our Product Development SCS group. Position requirements include:
Experience in the material handling industry is a plus.
Experience with Machine Design.
Experience with solid modeling (Unigraphics NX is preferred).
Excellent analytical skills.
Applications system experience preferred.
Strong mechatronics abilities.
Experience in an Agile Development environment is a plus.
Job Family Responsibilities:
Supports simple and complex designs of parts and sub-system of complex machines. This includes design of machined, extruded, sheet metal and plastic parts.
Participates in the design process from development, component test, sub-system integration, prototype machine builds and test, validation, and support of product release. Prototype machine assembly may require lifting of up to fifty pounds and standing for up to eight hours per day. Assists in determining the best method of testing, may assist in testing, understanding testing results as related to the product performance. Assists in on-site product validation, ensuring products perform to the intended manner. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere both internal and external departments. This will include design reviews, team collaboration on designs and problems, and other project work.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and modeling of parts, product testing, and problem solving of designs/machines.
Qualifications
Education:
BS in Mechanical Engineeringor advanced degree. Certification may be required in some areas.
Knowledge and Experience:
Demonstrates a good grasp of product development principles. Understanding of corporate culture. Typically, 2-5 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
Direction of Others:
Provide general guidance or train/support team members.
Key Working Relationships:
Primarily team members and intra-organizational contacts and external contacts.
Travel Requirements:
As necessary to support global manufacturing sites and; 0 to 5% annually.
