The GOISD is seeking applicants for a School Social Worker.
This is a 185-day, school year position, with the possibility of additional summer hours.
Position Description: The individual selected for this position will provide general education and special education social work services to students in the Pre-K-12 school setting to address social, emotional, mental health, and behavioral needs. Responsibilities will also involve coordinating behavioral supports for intensive-need students and direct student or group therapy will be conducted per the individual student’s plan of care or IEP. Billing for Medicaid services and utilization of the electronic student database system is a function of this position.
Credentials:
Applicants should have the following certifications in the State of Michigan:
- Licensed Master Level Social Worker (LMSW)
- Temporary or full approval as a School Social Worker
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the school multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) teams with resources for the development and implementation of research-based interventions for students with social-emotional needs and/or challenging behaviors.
- Provide individual teacher support through coaching and modeling of specific interventions and supports for student social/emotional areas of need.
- Provide direct group and individual therapy based on the goals and objectives of the student’s plan of care (POC) or individualized development plan (IEP).
- Document student growth and progress on goals and objectives related to the social-emotional area of concern.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about resources and support to implement consistent plans for students.
- Utilize the electronic student database for documentation requirements, timelines and areas of compliance.
- Complete billing for Medicaid services as directed for eligible students.
- Provide professional development in areas of expertise for districts on an as-needed or requested basis.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of General Education or Director of Special Education.
Compensation: Per the terms of the GOISDEA Master Agreement.
Start Date: Will be determined when the position is filled.
