GENERAL SUMMARY: The R.R.T assists patients of all ages with acute and chronic illness in returning to a productive life style, through education and the application of various therapeutic modalities. May perform diagnostic testing and monitoring through the application / use of spirometry both at bedside and in conjunction with physician orders for pulmonary function studies. May serve as a preceptor for employees as well as a clinical instructor for respiratory therapy students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develop patient care plans per established protocols. Perform and provides chart review, documentation, audits and patient and family education.
- Ventilator management, Arterial Blood Gas sampling / analysis, CPR team, administration and monitoring of use of oxygen and aerosolized medication, bedside spirometry
- Equipment processing, including high level disinfecting.
- Participates in Physician or collaborative patient rounds.
- Participates in Process Improvement initiatives.
- Orientation of new employees and students.
- Participates in equipment evaluation.
