GENERAL SUMMARY:
Assists patients of all ages with acute and chronic illness in returning to a productive life style, through education and the application of various therapeutic modalities. May perform diagnostic testing and monitoring through the application / use of spirometry both at bedside and in conjunction with physician orders for pulmonary function studies. May serve as a preceptor for employees as well as a clinical instructor for respiratory therapy students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Develop patient care plans per established protocols. Perform and provides chart review, documentation, audits and patient and family education.
2. Ventilator management, Arterial Blood Gas sampling / analysis, CPR team, administration and monitoring of use of oxygen and aerosolized medication, bedside spirometry.
3. Equipment processing, including high level disinfecting.
4. Participates in Physician or collaborative patient rounds.
5. Participates in Process Improvement initiatives.
6. Orientation of new employees and students.
7. Participates in equipment evaluation.

A. Education / Training:
Associate of Applied Science degree in Respiratory Therapy.
B. Work Experience:
Eligible for position after attainment of RRT NBRC status.
C. Certification, Licensure, Registration:
Current State of Michigan Respiratory Therapist license. NBRC-RRT credential required.
Current BLS certification.
NRP certification preferred.
