Job Summary:
Material Handler is responsible for handling all incoming and outgoing inventory.
Responsible for ensuring that production areas are always stocked and ready to fulfill orders.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products from trucks
- Receive and check incoming deliveries for accuracy against delivery paperwork
- Stage work in process material at production lines according to schedule
- Assemble boxes for production
- Put away finished goods off the production line
- Load materials on and off conveyor and racking systems
- Move materials to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and manufacturing areas
- Prepare finished products for shipment by identifying their location, then pulling and loading them
- Operate trucks, forklifts, cranes, and other equipment to move freight
- Perform and report cycle counts
- Comply with all warehouse safety rules and guidelines
- Assemble and/or break down corrugate packaging as needed
- Track supply levels and regularly submit replenishment recommendations
- Wrap orders and place them on trucks for delivery
- Document orders, materials, and any stock movements
- Maintain cleanliness in the area
- Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision
- Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
- Be detail-oriented, honest, direct, and able to handle more than one task at a time while managing one’s time effectively and maintaining a strong work ethic
- Follows all Natural Choice Foods, Inc. policies and procedures
- Document all transfers, shipments, and movements
- Ensure items are stored in an orderly and accessible manner
- Conducts accurate cycle counting of inventory
- Check equipment to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order
- Load and unload trailers with mechanical freight handling equipment as required

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment:
The work is generally performed in a freezer and cooler with conditions anywhere from -10 to -15 degrees. (Proper gear supplied by Natural Choice Foods.)
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Occasional sedentary (up to 10 pounds), light to medium (up to 50 pounds), and occasional heavy (up to 100 pounds, with assistance) lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Required Educational Skills and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Familiarity with voice picking systems or RF devices is a plus
- Experience in using warehouse equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks)
- Strong communication skills
- Dexterity and attention to detail
- Organizational skills
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
- Hi-Lo/Forklift license
- Ability to speak, write, read and follow instructions, correspondence, and memorandums
- Ability to interact professionally with diverse company employees and customers/suppliers in a friendly and efficient manner
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management and other employees of the organization
- Ability to communicate effectively with truck drivers about deliveries and returns
- Communicate with Sales regarding orders and trucking logistics
Preferred Educational Skills and Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Principles and Practices
- Safety Management
- Ability to work overtime on an as-needed basis
