JOB DESCRIPTION
Description:
*The candidate requires good communication skills to work with multiple team members. The candidate will gather technical knowledge from published works, programs and experts to provide evidence of sewing methods that can improve the quality of the seat designs. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to plan, organize and deliver project requirements.
*Responsibilities include: conducting investigations and gathering technical papers and knowledge from external and internal resources
*Unique Challenges include: Understanding the sewing requirements and their application in the construction of automotive seating. Working with Subject Matter Experts and Manufacturing experts to find optimized technical solutions to meet objectives such: sewn quality, performance, cost and design requirements.
Duties:
* Help solve sewing design issues by utilizing the IDDOV process to determine the best method for quality sewn covers. Complete A3's which will be presented in weekly and executive design reviews for this investigation.
* Help gather data, evaluate and write technical documentation for engineering signoff.
*Exposure to the product development process and interaction with Subject Matter Technical Experts (SMTEs) throughout the assignment.
*Exposure to Design For Assembly and Manufacturing (DFAM) principles in trim cover construction. Gain understanding of the interaction between design and manufacturing in product development and defining drivers for quality sewn cover.

Other position requirements:
*The candidate needs to have good analytical skills and work effectively with manufacturing and development team.
* Patterning and sewing skills are highly recommended
*Technical writing skills recommended using MS Word, MS Excel
*Working towards a 4-year B.S. degree in Clothing and Textiles or similar degree
*Previous internship or co-op experience in automotive related position an added plus
