DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The new Tenneco has formed from the combination of Tenneco Clean Air and Federal-Mogul Powertrain, bringing together more than a century of innovation to serve light vehicle, commercial truck, off-highway and large engine OE customers worldwide. We are looking for a Capital Buyer Manager to work out of our Romulus, Michigan corporate location to contribute to our Clean Air business unit. The Capital Buyer Manager is responsible for but not limited to purchasing capital equipment and tools. This position supports the development and execution of Global Capital Strategies designed to leverage Tenneco's worldwide purchase of capital equipment in support of the Original Equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assists in the development and executes implementation of commodity strategies in collaboration with manufacturing engineering, sales, and manufacturing team members.
- Conducts and coordinates price negotiations in agreement with commodity team Director/Manager.
- Identifies opportunities to leverage Tenneco volume into advantageous supply agreements.
- Drives cost reduction efforts and ideas through implementation to meet annual targets.
- Supports manufacturing plants with major supply issues within the commodity.
- Issue and maintain purchase orders to suppliers as authorized by Tenneco GSCM guidelines.
- Perform tasks related to debit memos, receipt reconciliation, material rejection reports, payables, etc.
- Monitor supplier performance to key metrics using BOS processes and liaison Tenneco manufacturing plants and suppliers to support continuous improvement related to quality, cost, delivery, and service.
- Maintain compliance to generally accepted purchasing policies and procedures.
- Willing to travel as required (est. 10% ~ 15% domestic/international travel).
- Manages regional interface of commodity strategies and represents the purchasing Director in various business unit meetings.
- Position will be comprised of approximately 50% tactical and 50% strategic responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS:Education and/or Experiences
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or Technical discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Buyer in Automotive Industry.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Commodity Buyer.
Requirements/Skills
- Corporate or divisional supply chain management exposure.
- Demonstrated cross-functional experience in purchasing and contract negotiations.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), including the ability to communicate across various organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to champion change and implement strategies to meet goals.
- Strong team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.
- SAP & general purchasing systems experience, as well as adequate spreadsheet/Word/PowerPoint skills. Power Steering experience a plus
- Functional understanding of BOM's, MRP, TS-16949 & related automotive industry practices and standards.
- Ability to interpret and communicate engineering drawings and specifications.
- Technical familiarity with a range of materials and processes (i.e. Steel, Stamping, tubes) is desirable.
- Customer service oriented; responsive to needs of internal customers & suppliers.
