Project Engineer II (Environmental)

Description: This position works with senior project managers to design, plan and direct field investigation and remedial action programs, interpret results, and prepare reports for environmental projects under Federal and commercial contracts.Â
Some responsibilities include:
*Managing multiple site investigations and remediation field projects from work plan development through field effort and report preparation, budget / proposal preparation and overall task coordination with limited supervision.
*Lead and participate as a member of a remedial investigation team under the direction of the senior project manager to collect the required field data on physical and chemical characteristics, including sediment, soil, groundwater and soil vapor sample collection, field logistics for sample vessel, sample processing and shipment under USEPA DESA/CLP requirements, maintain daily log book, and QA/QC review of field documentation.
*Coordinate and oversee field work including a variety of drilling / subsurface investigation techniques, preparation of boring logs, installation of monitoring wells in accordance with applicable guidelines, groundwater monitoring, and free phase product assessment, vapor intrusion assessment, remedial pilot tests and providing fieldwork oversight of subcontractors.
*Working knowledge of field investigation techniques, laboratory analyses and waste characterization criteria, human health screening criteria, interpretation of geologic and chemical data for surface water, soil, soil gas and groundwater and be able to prepare and complete reports summarizing field procedures and results.
*Oversee and work productively with subcontractors while assuring work scopes and safety requirements are met.
Qualifications include:
*Requires a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
*Post graduate degree preferred, but not required.
*Professional Registration (i.e., Professional Engineer) preferred not required.
*In-depth knowledge of geological and hydrogeological principles, including physical geology, glacial geology, stratigraphy, structural geology, stream geomorphology, and geophysics.
*5 to 10 years' experience in environmental consulting specializing in the planning and managing of a variety of remedial investigations, studies and remedial actions that potentially involve multidisciplinary project teams. Strong project and task management, field investigation, analytical and computer skills.
*Understanding of environmental regulatory processes (federal and state levels), a broad range of in-situ and ex-situ remedial technologies, and remediation design and construction.
*Experience performing design calculations and preparing design reports, construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.
*Working knowledge of remedial actions, technologies, and processes commonly employed at sites of environmental contamination for soil, subsurface soil, vapor intrusion, soil gas, groundwater, surface water, and sediment.
*Ability to prepare complex written technical reports (e.g., Remedial Investigation Reports, feasibility studies, etc.). with minimal oversight, senior QC of reports prepared by others, and the ability to direct and mentor mid- and junior-level staff during the interpretation of data and preparation of technical reports.
*Organization, written communication, and oral communication skills.
*Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office. Must be able to work constructively in diverse teams including engineers, technicians, and non-technical personnel
*Proficient AutoCAD, ArcGIS skills prefered.
*Must be able to work outdoors all year and travel up to 50% of the time, including out of state overnights.
*40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-Hr refresher desired
Additional Requirements:

*Must be able to physically navigate construction sites.
*Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
