RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is under the supervision of the Emergency Services Program Supervisor, has no supervisory responsibilities, and serves as a member of the clinical emergency services team. Responsibilities include responding at various points of intercept to reduce or eliminate the likelihood of an individual with severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual and/or developmental disability from being incarcerated and/or involved in the criminal justice system. Participation in the 24-hour, on-call emergency services rotation is required. This clinician will also be responsible for brief clinical episodes of care that focus on preventing jail recidivism related to unmet mental health needs. To further support transition of individuals from incarceration services, clinical assessment, person centered planning, direct service provision, and transfer of recipients to appropriate community services will be provided. Participation in maintaining strong relationships with the law enforcement community and will support implementation and be a member of the CIT. Support will be provided to increase the use of evidence-based behavioral health treatments in jails. This clinician will routinely participate in Mental Health Court proceedings and provide data collection support related to Jail Diversion Outcomes. This position, due to the acuity and intensity of the services will have to perform work accurately and rapidly. Timely and complete documentation are essential requirements of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Masters of Social Work (LMSW) with State of Michigan licensure required. Limited Licensed Masters of Social Work (LLMSW) with State of Michigan licensure may be considered if there are no successful LMSW applicants. Two years of experience working with persons with mental illness which includes inpatient discharge plan negotiations and /or crisis support services activity.
