POSITION PROFILE:
This Quality Engineer role will have dual responsibilities - Supplier Quality Engineering for Metal commodities and Quality Engineering for Logistics.
The primary SQE - Metals responsibilities will involve working with Product Development, the generation and communication of quality assurance requirements for suppliers, auditing of supplier sites, coordination of production part approval process (PPAP) submissions by suppliers, creation and follow-up on supplier corrective action requests (SCARs), supplier performance improvement programs, product claims, and advanced product quality planning (APQP)..
The primary QE - Logistics responsibilities will involve working with various functional groups to sustain and improve the quality of products, processes and services to our customers. This will include implementing a combination of appraisal and prevention efforts to improve correctness and completeness of orders being shipped to customers from product consolidation (i.e. mixing center) sites. Responsibilities will also include responding to Logistics-responsible customer claims and developing & implementing permanent corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
This Quality Engineer role can be based out of either East Greenville, PA or Muskegon, MI.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Previous supplier quality management experience strongly desired
- Implementing quality control processes in a warehousing / logistics environment
- Leading and participating in problem solving efforts with other Engineers and Technicians
- Working on projects to improve processes consistency / stability
- Developing aesthetic, dimensional, and functional quality specifications for products
- Training associates in the understanding of specifications, process controls and structured, cross-functional problem-solving techniques
- Auditing processes and systems
- Monitoring reported non-conformances and completion of required corrective actions
- Driving improvement activities to reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
- Reviewing rejected materials, component parts and finished assemblies; participating in disposition decisions - use “as isâ€, rework, scrap or send back to suppliers for replacement/credit
- Assisting in program launches
- Performing other duties as necessary in support of business objectives
