SUMMARY
This position supports the safety and environmental programs. It includes responsibility for safety and environmental training, reporting, and oversight functions at Main and Off-Site locations. This position exists to ensure compliance with all safety and environmental rules and regulations in the jurisdictions in which the company operates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Provide leadership to Management / Supervision across multiple facilities, departments, and installation sites to guide the organization and its leadership to an ever increasing and effective culture of safety.
• Ensure the safety and environmental management system are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with applicable state of federal laws and standards that the company subscribes to.
• Identify Safety & Environmental concerns, opportunities, and gaps. Prioritize and lead the development of EHS programs based on organizational needs.
• Identify the need for, develop, schedule, and present training to company employees, contingent workers and suppliers in safety and environmental management.
• Conduct audits and assessments to determine development needs and identify gaps (at both a macro and micro level) and effectuate programs to close gaps.
• Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental
concerns in facilities as well as in the customer's facilities.
• Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement.
• Performs other departmental functions as required.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential function of this job.
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university. Specialization in Environmental Health
and Safety or a related field preferred. One (1) year of experience in loss control/safety in an industrial environment, preferably automotive. An equivalent combination of education and experience that is determined to be directly related to the foregoing specific requirements may be substituted. Thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable MDEQ, MIOSHA & plant regulations/policies in regards to safety & environmental programs/requirements. Knowledge of hazardous material compliance, emergency response and mitigation practices. Knowledge of root cause analysis to support or facilitate problem solving activities. Knowledge of utility equipment and the generation of electricity. Ability to deliver training on a variety of safety subjects to all on-site personnel. Knowledgeable of Automotive Safety Standards. Ability to deal with people in a friendly and open fashion. Ability to express and communicate ideas, both verbally and in writing. Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Possess the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Possess the ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or
diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Driver's License.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
10-25% of time is spent as day trips to different facilities. Domestic/ International travel may be required.
