The Senior Audit Manager role offers broad exposure to operations and provides the opportunity to contribute value-added solutions to internal control weaknesses and other effectiveness/efficiency concerns in order to minimize overall risk to the company. This is accomplished through participation in the planning and execution of audits within all functional areas of the Company, and by providing consulting services to operations management. This position includes responsibility to guide and mentor FCA’s Corporate Leadership Development (CLD) Program participants (FCA’s premier Leadership Development Program).
Some responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•Performing a “Risk Assessment”, process (involves risk discussions with Level 1 executives)
•Completing audits
•Developing the audit scope and approach to address the most significant risks inherent in the organization and/or process
•Managing staff completion of audit fieldwork, this typically includes assessing the effectiveness of internal controls, and determining compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures (as well as assessing the adequacy of existing procedures)
•Documenting and communicating audit issues to local and senior management
•Working closely with management in the development and implementation of corrective actions for issues identified, management often seeks Corporate Audit guidance regarding alternatives to address weaknesses identified
•Providing guidance relative to specific questions concerning internal controls, typically questions brought forward “outside” of an on-going audit
•Working with FCA Security Services and the Business Practices Office on investigations
•Identifying causes or contributing factors relating to process variances through application of process mapping and root-cause analysis techniques and other special projects
•Identifying and recommending methods to strengthen internal controls, improve operations and, in conjunction with operating personnel, determining the best approach
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a college or university
•Advanced degree or professional certification (CPA, CIA, CFSA, etc.)
•Minimum ten years related experience
•Strong understanding of internal controls (Sarbanes Oxley), auditing and generally accepted accounting principles required
•Supervisory experience required
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience with manufacturing companies’ financial and operating processes and procedures preferred
•Excellent written, oral and listening communication skills
•Demonstrated leadership abilities
