Immigration Professional
This Immigration Professional works with the AlixPartners Legal, Compliance, and Risk team. This role is responsible for providing immigration-related advice and services in a professional services environment in support of AlixPartners' globally mobile consultants and other firm professionals. This position will also assist with key projects to establish, execute, and support a strategic, innovative, and client-focused global mobility program.
The Immigration Professional is located in Southfield, MI reporting to the Immigration Manager. Paid relocation is not available.Key Responsibilities:
•Be a subject matter expert in immigration compliance commensurate with experience level.
•Analyze compliance requirements and recommend immigration strategy for short term business travelers, project teams, international assignees, and foreign nationals.
•Administer and coordinate immigration processes with respective internal stakeholders (Management, Tax, Benefits, Travel, Payroll) and external providers.
•Execute necessary visa/work permit applications and support documentation while maintaining extremely high levels of customer service.
•Monitor and fulfill administrative duties related to expatriate population
•Actively participate with creativity and urgency in global mobility project deliverables set forth by management.
•Assist with US inbound immigration (e.g. L, H-1B, E-3, TN Visas and Permanent Residency processes) as required.
•Additional responsibilities as identified.Qualifications / Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree preferred.
•Minimum 3 years professional experience; 2+ years of experience in similar or related role required.
•Knowledge of immigration policies and procedures pertaining to visas, work permits, and relocations in multiple markets required.
•Experience thriving in fast paced, decentralized multinational, professional services environment preferred.
•Knowledge of tax implications of global mobility, international payroll, and/or international benefits experience a plus.
•Passion for both immigration and process improvement.
•Superior organizational skills and detail oriented.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Proficient problem solver.
•Ability to remain focused and generate accurate work product in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
•Ability to work with a variety of people across seniority levels, cultures and geographic locations.
•Handles confidential information with discretion.
•Proactive and forward thinking, with notable strength in anticipating needs.
•Flexible and adaptable.
•Ability to operate effectively in a collaborative environment as well as independently.
•Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
•Ability to work full time in a dynamic office environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the work day.
