About this Opportunity:
This is a part time position in the Child Welfare Division. Work shifts may vary to best meet the needs of the Foster Care Program. Work shifts may include evenings, Saturdays, and on occasion, Sundays. The Family Support Worker is a supportive function of the Foster Care Program. The Family Support Worker facilitates family time* for families engaged in the foster care system due to abuse or neglect. *Family Time is planned parenting time and connection between a parent and their child(ren).

Our ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent. This candidate must have an understanding of child development, with the ability to easily relate to children, parents, and caregivers, and to provide and maintain appropriate directions for children in a warm and understanding manner along with child care skills and parenting experience. You must become familiar with and follow the code of ethics for your profession and agree to abide by the related agency standards. You must possess an understanding and sensitivity to the client’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. Having personal qualities of warmth, sensitivity, and the ability to establish meaningful rapport and maintain mutual respect with people from various cultures is preferred. This candidate must promote a positive image for the agency within the agency and the community, and in relationships with other agencies and their personnel. Having flexibility with schedule and the ability to use agency technology is preferred. You must have a good driving record and a safe, dependable vehicle available, with appropriate insurance. This candidate must possess some knowledge of community resources Having a positive acceptance of supervision in order to learn and be trained in job-related functions, along with personal qualities of organizational skills, assertiveness, sound judgment, conscientiousness, attention to detail, and timeliness is preferred. Lastly, you must be able to manage emotional situations in a positive manner.
