A day in the life of the Director, Produce/Floral Merchandising is never the same but, in this role, you will be responsible to direct regional retail operations, category management, wholesale sales, procurement and promotions for produce merchandising. Ensure the department merchandising plans, programs, strategic initiatives and campaigns achieve budgeted sales and gross profit objectives. Oversee and ensure the category management across the assigned region produce merchandising department for company-owned retail stores and independent customers meet company objectives.
What You’ll Do:
•Direct the produce and floral merchandising operations, category management, procurement and promotions to achieve budgeted sales and profit targets for retail and wholesale divisions. Responsible for P&L management, vendor negotiations and the development of merchandising programs that meet or exceed sales and profit plans.
•Develop department objectives and monitor the budgeted objectives for department sales and profits utilizing fair share trends from global marketing research reports, profitability scorecards and profit and loss statements; ensure the merchandising programs, initiatives and campaigns achieve budgeted sales and gross profit objectives.
•Oversee the analysis of financial data to accurately plan, budget and forecast promotions, and post-promotion analysis to measure program effectiveness and recommend changes for future execution of plans accordingly.
•Develop quantifiable strategies for private brand growth and profitability and work with private label to increase sales.
•Analyze retail and industry trends and competitive factors on a global scale and provide strategies to align with industry trends and department objectives.
•Participate in cross-functional business initiatives working with Category Management, Retail (company-owned and independent retailers), etc. to align business strategies and communications of such initiatives.
•Maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally (i.e., cross-functional business partners, vendors, customers) and develop collaborative efforts for increased market share, customer loyalty and profitability.
•Identify opportunities and recommend process improvements to enhance merchandising plans and work cross-functionally (i.e., Distribution, Shelf Technology, IT, Pricing, Accounting, Procurement, etc.) to implement improvements to meet company goals and objectives.
Ensure that federal and state regulations and company standards are met for product freshness and food safety.
•Responsible for department management including staffing, training, performance management and career development of associates, and developing and monitoring department goals. Develop and monitor department budget as required.
•Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best Merchandising practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes.

Sound Like You? Here’s what you’ll need:
•Bachelor's Degree (Required) Food Marketing or related area or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
•Ten years retail merchandising experience to include five years’ experience with produce/floral merchandising and/or procurement.
•Five (5) years Supervisory experience
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong negotiation and influencing skills.
•Ability to effectively manage internal and external business relationships and work collaboratively. Excellent organization, prioritization, project management, analytical and decision-making skills.
•Strong leadership and financial/business acumen skills. Demonstrated knowledge of merchandising and procurement principles and skills, and in-depth knowledge of produce/floral merchandising.
•Proficient in Microsoft office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required; Access experience preferred.
•Ability to travel up to 50%.
